Christmas Spirit

The spirit of Christmas is settling in
Like a warm winter visit from a welcome friend.
A heavenly feeling embraces the land
Like a parent who offers a loving hand.

The spirit lifts us up with joy and delight
Like a view of the stars on a cold wintry night.
Our faces are shining and eyes lit from within
Like the world that we know has been reborn again.

A brisk wind brings music that blows through our hair
Like the melody can be tasted in the cool evening air.
Thoughts and dreams bubble up from our holidays past
Like seconds the years go, but our memories last.

A god-child was born to us many centuries ago
Like a sheperd he watches over us down here below.
Be loving and joyful ’til we see him again
Like the spirit of Christmas is settling in.
